Dano Cerebral Santiago de Compostela

Dano Cerebral Santiago de Compostela

We are a non-profit organisation founded in December 2000 to support families and people with Acquired Brain Damage and who mainly work in councils that form part of the Healthcare Area of Santiago and Barbanza.

Acquired Brain Damage (ABD) is little known but more is known about its causes: strokes, traumatic brain injuries as a result of accidents, brain tumours, a lack of oxygen due to a cardiac arrest or a drowning etc. The effects, often invisible, can vary greatly.

The main aims of Dano Cerebral Santiago de Compostela are to promote the defence of rights for these people and their families, their integration into society, as well as their care, help and protection. Another main principal of the association is awareness and information as well as the prevention of ABD and its effects.

Currently, the core of the group is made up of more than 1000 people, including members, collaborators, volunteers and professionals who work to reach their goal of improving the quality of life of both people with ABD and that of their families.

Roles in the EUTERPE_adn project

Users of our services will participate in both the experimental group and the control group. As we see the project, everyone will have samples taken and only those from the experimental group will attend the music workshops that take place in our centres on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10.30 to 11.30.
