The Casa da Música, located in Oporto, is one of the main cultural centres in Portugal, known for its iconic architecture and its diverse programme. Opened in 2005, it offers a wide range of musical events, from classical music concerts to contemporary spectacles.
The Educational Service at the Casa da Música plays a crucial role in the promotion of inclusion and the stregthening of communities through music. Since its creation, it has developed projects involving people from different sociocultural backgrounds, presenting them with opportunities to explore and express themselves through music.
One of the main objectives of the Education Service is to promote the accessibility of music, and encourage the active participation of all members of the community. To achieve this aim, creative and musical animation projects that encourage improvisation, interaction, leadership and teamwork have been carried out.
As well, the Educational Service works in close collaboration with schools, institutes and community groups, adapting their activities to the specific needs of each group. This personalised focus guarantees that everyone can benefit from the musical experiences offered by the Casa da Música.
