The Institute of Health Research (IDIS) at Santiago de Compostela promotes translational investigation, innovation and teaching in the clinical sphere of the health sector. They manage the largest institution of health research in the north west of Spain (more than 90 research groups and more than 1500 researchers). Their main aim is to be a reference in specialised management and in the promotion of research in the health sphere. EUTERPE_adn is a natural continuation of our music and biomedical project Sensogenomics (http://sensogenomics.com), led by the research group Genetica de Poblaciones en Biomedicina (GenPoB-IDIS; https://genpob.eu; Lead reasearcher Dr Antonio Salas Ellacuriaga; professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela [USC]; (https://www.usc.gal) and GenViP-IDIS; Lead reasearcher: Professor Dr Federico Martinón Torres; professor at USC).
Jobs of the EUTERPE_adn project
IDIS will lead the EUTERPE_adn project, assing the realisation of the aims, activities and indicators, and carrying out a key role in the coordination and monitoring. Through this iniciative, IDIS will put into practice:
- A prospective, longitudinal and long term analysis of the impact of music on elderly adults and in neurodegenerative or neuromotor illnesses.
- The creation of a collaborative network for professionals from different sectors in Galicia and Portugal.
- Working together with patient associations to encourage a close translational investigation and direct the findings towards personalised medication.
As a research group specialising in genetics and biomedicine, IDIS will take charge of the biomedical design for the collection of biological samples, the taking of 5 samples (blood from a finger-prick test and a cheek swab), and their processing, storage and later analysis in order to evaluate the impact of music on gene expression. Also, they will lead the communication and information dissemination strategies for the project, as well as efforts used for the generation and sharing of the results.
